Olympia
Theatre – Miami’s Olympia
Theater first opened in 1926 as a silent movie palace.
With perfect acoustics and stunning architecture, it was
truly a masterpiece of “atmospheric” theater
design. But after decades of neglect, the once-regal theater
was scheduled to be demolished in the 1970s. Thankfully,
it was spared from the wrecking ball by philanthropist Maurice
Gusman, and the theater has since undergone extensive renovations. New
Florida was there to witness the grand theater’s
transformation.
Images of a
President – Palm Beach photographer Bob Davidoff
photographed debutantes, royalty, socialites and celebrities,
but the people he was most famous for photographing were
the Kennedys. Designated the official “Winter White
House” photographer by United Press International,
Davidoff was granted inside access to the Kennedys’ Palm
Beach estate. New Florida looks
back at the long and illustrious career of Bob Davidoff,
the photographer who captured Camelot.
Paso Fino Horses – With
its tip-toe step and smooth gait, the Paso Fino horse is known
as the “Rolls Royce of riding horses.” Now, the
Florida Paso Fino Horse Association is striving to make Florida
a mecca for Paso Fino breeding. New
Florida attends a Paso Fino competition to learn more
about these elegant equines and watch them perform their signature
step.

Life
Begins at 85 - For the average high school student,
graduation marks the beginning of a lifelong journey. But
for 90-year old GED recipient Uceba Babson, her graduation
ceremonies mark the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. New
Florida learns what makes this remarkable lady tick.
Florida's Waterfall – Given
that the highest point in many Florida communities is the municipal
garbage dump, it may come as a surprise to learn that Falling
Waters State Park boasts a six-story waterfall. Of course,
the crystalline waters of this fall don’t cascade down
a sharp cliff or hulking hillside. Rather they plummet from
ground level deep into a sink hole. New
Florida travels to the Panhandle just outside of Chipley,
Florida to explore this unique geological oddity.
