The Channel 2 Auction
is a unique on-air fund raising event airing live on WPBT/Channel 2.
New merchandise, vacation packages and services are auctioned off to
viewers who bid from home by telephone. The items are contributed by
businesses in support of public television in South Florida. The auction
provides businesses to garner valueable exposure with the Public Television
audience.
By donating an item to the televised Channel 2 Auction,
your company will receive visibility before hundreds of thousands of
Auction fans all around South Florida. Your product/service/vacation
package will be showcased live on television and auctioned to bidders,
and the proceeds benefit Channel 2/PBS!
- How do I donate to the Channel 2 Auction?
Participation is simple; just download the DONOR FORM, then
call 305-949-1922 for more information. Items must have a minimum
retail value of $250. The more you give, the more promotion you will receive.
We will promote Channel 2's Auction in our monthly member program guide to
over 40,000 households. You will receive promotion on our website prior to
and during the event, showcasing a description, value and even a hyperlink
to you own website (for a donation of $1,000 or more).
- What are the benefits for the different levels
of donation?
Benefit levels vary along with contribution levels. The following lists three
contribution levels and the associated benefits with each.
For donations valued at $250 - $1000:
- Your product/service/vacation package will be shown once on-air during
the Auction broadcast.
- A 30-second script will describe your product, and your company name will
be mentioned.
- There will be 4 recap mentions of your prize on-air.
For donations valued at $1000 - $2499:
- Your product/service/vacation package will be shown twice on-air during
Auction viewing hours.
- A 30-second script will describe your product, and your company name will
be mentioned twice.
- There will be 4 recap mentions of your prize on-air.
- If received in time, your donation will also be featrued in a WPBT publication
and direct mail piece and on the Channel 2 Auction website with
a link to your company provided.
For donations valued at $2500 or more:
- WPBT will produce a 60-second pre-taped spot from materials you submit.
WPBT will show the spot during the auction frequently..
- The higher the value, the more frequently we will air the spot.
- There will be at least 4 recap mentions of your prize on-air.
- Footage from your prize, if received within certain deadlines, will be
included in pre-auction promotional spots.
- If received in time, your donation will also be featrued in a WPBT publication
and direct mail piece and on the Channel 2 Auction website with
a link to your company provided.
- What is the money used for?
Auction income is used to purchase quality programming for
Channel 2, whose majority of funding comes from community support.
